Tokayev calls on US not to threaten Central Asian countries

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, called on the President of the United States to ratify the protocol on nuclear-free Central Asia during his meeting with Joseph Biden and the heads of Central Asian countries in New York, Report informs, citing the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

The states that ratified this protocol undertook not to use nuclear weapons against Central Asian countries and not to threaten them.

Tokayev noted that this step will complete the process of institutionalizing the region's nuclear-free status.

It will also be an important stage in international efforts for nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
