4 oil tankers ablaze after striking mines in Strait of Hormuz, IRGC says

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says four "rogue oil tankers" attempting to transit a prohibited area south of the Strait of Hormuz have been destroyed after hitting naval mines and catching fire, and that its forces intercepted two other vessels, the semi-official Tasnim news agency noted, Report informs via Al Jazeera.

The IRGC also said air defences of its Aerospace Force shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the strait at 4:30 am local time (01:00 GMT) on Tuesday.

There was no immediate independent confirmation of either claim. The IRGC has made similar claims about tankers striking mines in recent weeks, including on October 30.
