Azerbaijan to preside over International Transport Forum for first time

In 2025-2026, Azerbaijan will chair the International Transport Forum, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport said in a statement.

According to Report, the corresponding decision was made at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers of Transport in the German city of Leipzig.

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov said that such high trust in Azerbaijan is an indicator that the country is a reliable partner in the region and the world: "Azerbaijan got the opportunity to take a direct part in the management of the organization. And this is of particular importance from the point of view of ensuring the interests of the country at the international level, as well as supporting industry activities. Azerbaijan's candidacy was registered in 2022."

Within the framework of the summit, Hummatov also held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary-General of the International Transport Forum Young Tae Kim.

The International Transport Forum has 66 members. Azerbaijan has been a full member of the forum since 1998.
