Deputy minister says solid foundation created for advancing agriculture to new phase of growth

Owing to the high attention paid by the state to the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan in recent years, a fundamental ground has been created for the transition to a qualitatively new stage of development in the agricultural sector, which is one of the leading sectors of the economy, and significant steps have been taken in the process of reliably ensuring the country's food security, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Sarvan Jafarov said, Report informs.

He made the remark at the republican meeting on the demonstration of new land and resource protection technologies to adapt to climate change held in Yevlakh district on April 27.

According to Jafarov, the steps taken towards increasing the efficiency of agricultural production, as well as the development of this sector in Azerbaijan have led to the development of the agriculture sector.

"The salinization of soils, the reduction of water and soil resources in the world has a serious impact on agriculture. Therefore, the application of modern technologies is of particular importance in overcoming of emerging difficulties," the deputy minister added.
