Maria Stadnik becomes two-time world champion

Female wrestler Maria Stadnik, 31, representing Azerbaijan at the world championship in the capital of Kazakhstan Nur-Sultan, had a final competition.

Report’s correspondent in Kazakhstan informs that Maria Stadnik (50 kg) defeated Romanian Emilia Alina Vuc.

Early in the match, Vuc was warned of passive wrestling. In first part Stadnik was ahead 5:0. In the second part she won with 13:0 score.

Thus, Stadnik became world champion for second time in her career. Her first success was at the 2009 World Cup in Dortmund, Germany.

At present, the Azerbaijani national team has one set of medals. Earlier Greco-Roman wrestler Rafig Huseynov (82 kg) won silver and Eldeniz Azizli (55 kg) – bronze medals. Maria Stadnik also qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Other female wrestlers Elis Manolova (65 kg) will compete for the bronze medal, while Tatiana Omelchenko (59 kg) will take part in a qualifying meeting.

Both events will be on September 19.
