Trial in a criminal case against 11 arrested over Ganja events begins tomorrow

Baku. 3 January. REPORT.AZ/ A trial in a criminal case on 11 arrested in connection with the Ganja events - Maarif Hajiyev, Shahlar Rzayev, Ruslan Hasanov, Tural Bayramov, Nizami Akbarov, Kamal Maharramov, Seymur Aliyev, Togrul Verdiyev, Orkhan Yagneliyev, Araz Hasanov and Vagif Ashrafov is to kick off at the Ganja Court of Grave Crimes tomorrow.

Report informs that the preliminary hearing presided by Judge Faig Mahmudov will begin at 14:00.

There are 17 victims in the criminal case.

Notably, according to the official information, the investigation is underway on the facts of purposefully planned terrorist act against head of the Ganja City Executive Power Elmar Valiyev and Police Officer Gasim Ashbazov on July 3, 2018, and use of force by a group of radical religious groups who committed mass riot by supporting terror on July 10th in Ganja.

On September 28, Attorney General Zakir Garalov said that 77 people were involved in criminal proceedings on Ganja events, while 11 were wanted.

Notably,the criminal cases against a group of individuals were transferred to the proceedings of Judge Faig Mahmudov and judges Dadash Imanov and Muhammad Bagirov.
