Azerbaijan will introduce, for the first time, a system for the identification and electronic tracking of all cattle, Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, said at a meeting dedicated to the 2026–2030 State Program for the Development of the Agricultural Sector.
According to the minister, the development of the cattle-breeding sector will be one of the key priorities of the program.
"For the first time, all cattle will be identified at the expense of the state budget, and an electronic registration system will be established. Plans also include the creation of dairy and meat clusters, expanded access to pedigree livestock, the establishment of milk and hide collection centers, and the modernization of the feed supply base," Mammadov said.
The minister also stressed that subsidies for the livestock sector will be increased.
"Although livestock production accounts for about 50% of total agricultural output, direct subsidies allocated to the sector amounted to only around 6%. This ratio will be revised under the new state program," he noted.
