The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will improve the agri-food systems program for COP29 to be held in Baku in November this year, Nasar Hayat, FAO Representative to Azerbaijan, stated at the regional climate conference on "Strengthening climate action in the agri-food sector of European and Central Asian countries" held in Baku, Report informs.
The FAO official emphasized that the Azerbaijani government attaches great importance to promoting sustainable agri-food systems and combating climate change. Nasar Hayat said that the transition to sustainable agri-food systems is crucial to achieve the Paris Agreement's goals of keeping global temperature rise well below 2°C.
He noted that global cooperation is important to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the face of modern challenges, and the organization he represents will continue to support member countries in this regard.
