Azerbaijan starts beef imports from one more country

In January-August this year, Azerbaijan imported 1,251 tons of frozen beef worth $6 million.

According to Report’s calculations based on the data of the State Statistics Committee, this is 51.2% less in value and 60% in quantitative terms compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, 701.4 tons (-71.8%) of frozen beef worth $3.4 million (66.5% less than a year ago) were imported from Ukraine, 386 tons (-23%) worth $1.2 million (-8.4%) from India, 152.5 tons (+81%) for $814,000 (+64%) from Brazil, 17.1 tons (+13.3%) for $282,000 (+84%) from Russia, 3.8 tons (there were no deliveries a year ago) for $77,000 from Argentina.

This year, for the first time in 11 years, deliveries were made from Jordan. Some 7.5 tons of beef worth $50,500 were imported from this country.

In 2021, Azerbaijan purchased 4,450 tons of frozen beef from 13 countries, 80% of which came from Ukraine, 14% from India.
