Azerbaijan spends over $2M on shrimp imports

From January through September, Azerbaijan imported 283 tons of sea shrimp for $2.1 million, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, the volume of the shrimp imports increased by 97% in quantitative terms and soared by 2.1 times in value compared to the same period in 2021.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 151.92 tons (+2.9 times year-on-year) of sea shrimps from China for $1.038 million (+3 times), 66 tons (+38%) from India for $520,200 ( +55%), 11.39 tons (+3.4 times) from Vietnam for $124,290 (+3.2 times), 16.54 tons (+2.1 times) from Russia for $113,340 (+2.8 times), 4.36 tons (+4.3%) from Luxembourg for $75,120 (+25%).

This year, deliveries were made from Saudi Arabia for the first time in the last 11 years (official statistics of foreign trade in the public domain have been published since 2011): 0.73 tons of shrimp for $6,160.
