Azerbaijan sharply reduces tobacco imports from key market

for the January-to-February period of 2022, Azerbaijan imported 496.75 tons of tobacco worth $ 8.2 million (with or without processed tobacco substitutes), respectively, down 32.2% and 16.5% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
In the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 496.14 tons (-29.7%) of tobacco worth $8.2 million (-14.3%) from Ukraine, 0.09 tons worth $12,050 from Georgia and 0.52 tons (-93.8%) worth $4,210 (-92%) from Denmark.
Azerbaijan imported tobacco from Georgia for the first time in the past 11 years.
In 2021, Ukraine accounted for 96.9% of Azerbaijan’s total tobacco imports (4,610 tons).
