Azerbaijan resumes onion imports from Türkiye

In January-May of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 14,821 tons of onions worth $5.96 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 80% and 81%, respectively, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased onions from:
- Iran: 6,071 tons worth $2.43 million (no supply a year ago);
- Russia: 3,393 tons (-56%) worth $1.36 million (-56%);
- Kazakhstan: 3,020 tons (+18 times) worth $1.21 million (+18 times);
- Uzbekistan: 2,060 tons worth $824,000 (no supply a year ago);
- Türkiye: 195.2 tons worth $95,200
Azerbaijan has resumed onion supplies from Türkiye after a 2-year break.
Meanwhile, in 2023, 94.2% of the 8,828 tons of onions imported to Azerbaijan came from Russia.
