Azerbaijan increases purchase price of cotton

Companies engaged in the production and processing of cotton have decided to increase the purchase price of cotton on the eve of the harvest, the Ministry of Agriculture told Report.

According to the agreement reached between the companies, the price of the 1st grade for the harvest of 2021 increased from AZN 650 to 700, the 2nd grade from AZN 630 to 680, the 3rd grade from AZN 590 to 640, and the fourth grade from AZN 550 to 600. This decision was made to encourage farmers to produce.

As a result of increasing the purchase price of each ton of cotton by AZN 50, farmers engaged in cotton production will receive a significant additional income. It is another manifestation of President Ilham Aliyev's care and attention to farmers.

The state supports the development of cotton growing. Farmers are paid a subsidy of AZN 100 for each ton of cotton delivered. In addition, farmers receive a planting subsidy of AZN 260 per hectare of cotton.

In 2020, Azerbaijan produced more than 336,000 tons of cotton, with an average yield of 33.6 centners per hectare. This is the highest productivity in cotton in recent years.
