Azerbaijan expands livestock imports from multiple nations

In total, Azerbaijan imported 5,653 head of cattle, valued at $19.43 million in 2023, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.
This is an increase of 17 percent in value and a decline of 28 percent in quantity compared to the indicator of 2022.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 2,000 heads of cattle (-37%) worth $6.7 million (-34%) from Uruguay, 856 heads (-21%) for $3.1 million (-13%) from Austria, 818 heads (-31%) for $2.96 million (-20%) from Estonia, 674 heads (+3.4%) for $2.3 million (+22%) from Germany, and 628 heads for $2.12 million (no deliveries a year ago) from Denmark.
In 2023, for the first time in the last 13 years, Azerbaijan imported cattle from Belgium (2 heads for $6,800), Italy (144 heads for $487,000), Romania (97 heads for $418,000), Latvia (34 heads for $144,000) and Slovakia (16 heads for $54,000).
