Former Minister: Azerbaijan can benefit from Turkey’s experience of yellow ginger growing

Yellow ginger is grown only in greenhouses in Azerbaijan, former Minister of Agriculture of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Receb Orujov told Report.

According to him, yellow ginger is a tropical plant and is grown in South Asian countries – China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia.

"This plant cam only be grown in greenhouses in Azerbaijan. In the recent times, the yellow ginger is grown in Turkey’s greenhouses."

He added that yellow ginger is used both as a spice and in medicine: "For growing yellow ginger, soil humidity should be 80-85%. The plant is rich of ferrous, B6 and C vitamins, manganese and other minerals. At the same time, it forms durability in chromosomes against cancer."

Azerbaijan imports yellow ginger. Main importer country is Iran.
