All hazelnut gardens in Azerbaijan have passed state registration, Chairman of the Agency for Agro Credit and Development (AKIA) of the Ministry of Agriculture Seymur Movlayev said at the signing ceremony of an executive agreement on cooperation and coordination of activities within the project entitled “Catalyzing the efficiency and sustainability of Azerbaijan’s hazelnut sector” (HAZER) between the UN Food and Agriculture Organization - FAO and Azerbaijan’s Agrarco LLC, Report informs.
“State registration is needed so that the supplier company knows whose product it is buying. Hazelnut growing is one of the strategic, export-oriented industries in Azerbaijan. Here, as in other sectors of agriculture, it is necessary to develop the value chain to meet the requirements of the world market. The main goals of cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and FAO are to eliminate existing shortcomings and support farmers,” he said.
