Borrell: EU knew in advance about Iran’s retaliatory strike on Israel

The EU knew in advance about Iran’s impending retaliatory strike on Israel; the union received notification several days in advance, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said, Report informs referring to TASS.

He did not specify where the EU authorities received information about the preparation of the strike.

According to the head of the EU diplomatic service, after the attack on Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian told him that the Islamic republic hit exclusively “military targets” and made it clear that it was a “controlled response.”

Borrell pointed out that if Tehran really wanted to cause significant damage, it would not have sent drones towards Israel, which took about six hours to reach their targets.

This in no way excuses or downplays the significance of this attack, he added.
