It is very difficult to maintain our identity nowadays. France wants us to lose our nationall identity, the Chair​ оf the New Caledonian Congress Committee​ оn Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Sustainable Development, Energy, Transport and Communications, Naisseline Omayra, said at a press conference held in the Azerbaiian’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) on April 18, Report informs.

"We, as a people, are represented in the UN. Since 1986, we have been included in the list of nations that should be freed from colonialism. Also, there are a number of movements that are working to make our voice heard globally. Today, our people are fighting for freedom. This is a struggle to protect our nationality and culture. We are trying to make the next generation more active in these matters. France is currently pursuing a policy of assimilation, but we are trying to include a number of textbooks in the curriculum of our students," she emphasized.
