Moratinos: 'We must work together to protect both planet and humanity'

We must work together to protect both the planet and humanity, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), said at the plenary meeting themed “Intergenerational dialogue for peace and global security” held within the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku, Report informs.

He said that he prefers a multi-colored society to a green society: “We must work together to protect both the planet and humanity. Sometimes people choose either the planet or humanity. But these two must be protected together.”

“After being appointed as the high representative at the UN, I was going to meetings where we discussed what we should do to eliminate extremism, racial discrimination, and violence. However, all these issues remained in words, and we did not take practical steps. We need to develop tools to change people’s minds. Only young people can do this. It is possible to build a better world,” he said.
