We need support, and the memorandum signed with the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis is a successful step in this direction, Maurice Wimian, a member of the New Caledonian Senate, said at the conference themed “History, Contemporary Challenges, and the Expected Future," Report informs.
The member of the Senate said that the current situation boosts the struggle for independence of the people of New Caledonia: “Azerbaijan extended its helping hand to the Kanak people, and we are very grateful for that. We have three institutions in New Caledonia, they are managed by the Kanak people and actively participate in our struggle.”
"Today, the representatives of our two provinces belong to the Kanak people. Our political leader is with his people, and negotiations with Paris are already being conducted differently. France has changed its tactics today. They want to interfere in the work of Congress and states by changing the working mechanisms of institutions in the country. We need support, and the memorandum signed with the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis is a successful step in this direction,” Maurice Wimian said.
