In January-March 2019, 610,800 foreigners traveled to Azerbaijan from 157 countries, down 2.9% from the previous year, Report informs citing the State Border Service (SBS).
According to the SBS, 28% of visitors traveled from Georgia, 27.4% from Russia, 11.3% from Turkey, 9.2% from Iran, 3.5% from UAE, 1.8% from Ukraine, 1.7% from India, 1.4% from Iraq, 15.6% from other countries.
70.1% of travelers were men, 29.9% were women.
Most of the decline was recoded in travelers from Egypt (48.5%), Iran (43.4%), Israel (41.7%), UAE (28.1%) and Iraq (24.8%).
Along with this, number of travelers from Egypt increased by 2.3-fold, India – by 1.8-fold, Saudi Arabia – by 1.8-fold, Turkmenistan – by 1.6-fold, Pakistan – 1.5-fold, China – by 46.1%, Japan – by 32.5%, Georgia – 22.9% and Oman – by 17.4%.
The number of travelers from EU countries rose by 2.8% to 19,100 people, while the number of visitors from the Gulf states slipped by 33.1% to 106,800 people, CIS countries - by 1.1% to 202,300.
The number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to foreign countries grew by 28.9% to 1,215,700 people. 66.5% of travelers were men, 33.5% - women.
The number of Azerbaijanis visiting Iran has risen by 84.2%, Georgia by 12.7%, Russia – by 7.4%, Turkey - by 3%.
