Official: Uzbekistan making efforts for co-op with Azerbaijan in tourism

Uzbekistan is actively working to expand cooperation with Turkic states in all areas, including the tourism sector. Particular efforts are being made for cooperation with Azerbaijan in this regard, Sherzod Sultanov, a marketing specialist at the Ministry of Tourism of Uzbekistan, told Report.

He said that the cuisines of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are similar, and both countries are known worldwide for their delicious dishes:

"Cuisine plays a key role in tourism. In addition, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are similar in terms of their ancient history, monuments, and multifaceted culture. Last year, we held extensive events to promote our tourism potential worldwide. Azerbaijan representatives, including the media, participated closely there."

The ministry representative added that in 2027, a city in Uzbekistan will be selected as the tourism capital of the Turkic world.

According to him, the proposal was put forward today at the 10th meeting of the culture and tourism ministers of member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), as well as heads of relevant delegations, held in Ankara, Türkiye.
