Cable car in Lachin to carry 800 passengers per hour

A new cable car system under construction in the city of Lachin will have the capacity to transport up to 800 passengers per hour, Tural Orujov, spokesperson for the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), told Report during a media tour titled "In the Footsteps of the President.”

He said the project is being developed with close consideration of the region’s natural landscape and topography.

“The cable car will be located in the city’s Boulevard Zone,” Orujov said. “It is an ideal project for attracting tourists.”

He said, the cable car line will span 1,720 meters in length and reach a height of 300 meters. The system will include 17 cabins, each completing the route in approximately six minutes.

In addition to large-scale social and infrastructure developments, the government has placed special emphasis on boosting the tourism potential of Lachin, a district that has seen rapid reconstruction following its liberation from occupation.
