Azerbaijan sees over 35% surge in air travels

Azerbaijan welcomed 2,235,130 air passengers from 39 countries during the first eight months of 2024, Report informs, referring to the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.

According to the obtained data, this marks an increase of 7 countries (21.8%) and 526,485 passengers (35.2%) compared to the same period in 2023.

Russia topped the list with 639,458 passengers arriving in Azerbaijan over the first eight months, a 30.2% rise year-on-year (YoY).

Türkiye followed Russia, with 577,254 passengers traveling to Azerbaijan in 8 months, an 18.7% increase YoY.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates ranked third, with 298,614 passengers, a 47.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Other significant contributors included Georgia with 149,842 passengers (up 40.5%), Saudi Arabia with 86,030 passengers (up 14.8%), India with 71,582 passengers (up 6.6 times), Kazakhstan with 71,233 passengers (up 31.1%), Italy with 40,599 passengers (up 2 times), Uzbekistan with 38,041 passengers (down 16%), and Qatar with 36,186 passengers (up 75.8%).

In August alone, 378,248 passengers traveled to Azerbaijan, reflecting a 27.6% increase from the same month last year. Of these, 106,044 passengers were come from Türkiye, up 8% from August 2023.
