Azerbaijan sees almost 17% surge in outbound tourist departures

Azerbaijanis made approximately 1.99 million trips abroad in the first 11 months of 2024, marking a 16.9% increase compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

Neighboring countries saw significant increases in visits of Azerbaijani nationals, with travel to Iran up 33%, Russia rising 13.4%, Georgia growing 13%, and Türkiye increasing 14.8%. Türkiye was the most popular destination, attracting 42.2% of Azerbaijani travelers, followed by Russia (20.5%), Georgia (8.7%), Iran (8.4%), and other countries (20.2%).

Men dominated international travel, comprising 63.9% of outbound Azerbaijani tourists, while women accounted for 36.1%.

Air travel was the preferred mode of transport for 69.5% of Azerbaijanis venturing abroad in January-November of this year, while 28.4% opted for rail and road transport, and 2.1% chose sea routes.
