Azerbaijan sees 30% growth in influx of tourists

In January–October of this year, 1,723,600 people from 186 countries traveled to Azerbaijan, 30.3% more than the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Some 30.7% of tourists come from Russia, 17.9% from Türkiye, 7.7% from Iran, 5.1% from India, 4.8% from Georgia, 4.1% from Saudi Arabia, 2.8% from Kazakhstan, 2.5% from Pakistan, 1.9% from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 1.8% from Uzbekistan, 1.6% from Israel, 1.5% from each of Ukraine and Kuwait, 1.4% from Belarus, 1.2% from each of Turkmenistan and China, 1.1% from Great Britain, and 11.2% from other countries. 69.9% of them were men, and 30.1% were women.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists from China increased by 7.3 times, from South Korea by 3.5 times, Turkmenistan by 2.7 times, Poland - 2.0 times, India - 2.0 times, Kazakhstan - 1.9 times, Tajikistan - 1.8 times, Egypt - 1.8 times, Kyrgyzstan - 1.8 times, Bahrain - 1.7 times, the Philippines - 1.7 times, Italy - 1.6 times, Spain - 1.6 times, Moldova - 1.5 times, Belarus - 1.5 times, Uzbekistan - 1.5 times, the Russian Federation - 45.8%, Canada - 42.7%, the USA - 39.4%, Georgia - 30.5%, the Netherlands - 29.4%, Kuwait - 27.3%, Israel - 27.2%, France - 26.9%, Great Britain - 25.7%, Germany - 22%, Turkiye - 20.3%, Ukraine - 11.1%, and the UAE - 10%.

Over the past year, the number of arrivals from the CIS countries increased by 49.6% to 692,600 people, from the European Union member countries grew by 41.9% to 89,600 people, and from the Gulf countries decreased by 7.4% to 284,700 people.

Some 72.1% of foreigners and stateless persons used air, 26.6% used railways and cars, and 1.3% used sea transport.
