Overall, 9,778 flights took off from Azerbaijan in the initial five months of the current year, marking a 21.7% increase year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Tourism Agency.
During this five-month span, 2,897 flights were destined for Russia, reflecting a 10.3% rise from the previous year.
In May alone, 2,231 flights were carried out from Azerbaijan, representing an increase of 23.6% from the corresponding period of 2023. Of these, 689 flights headed to Russia, indicating a 16.5% increase compared to May of the preceding year.
Following Russia, Türkiye was the second most popular destination with 2,099 flights recorded from January through May 2024, showing a 10.2% growth year-on-year.
The United Arab Emirates also saw a notable increase, securing the third spot with 1,231 flights, which is a substantial 38.6% hike from the previous year.
