Number of young people in Azerbaijan announced

2.3 million people, or 22.7%, of the population of Azerbaijan are young people, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Some 52.7% of young people live in urban areas and 47.3% in rural areas. 48.3% of young people are women.
Last year, 71.9% of those who got married in the country were young people. The average age of men who get married for the first time is 28, and that of women is 24. Among divorcees, the proportion of young men was 17.5%, and the proportion of young women was 37.9%.
Upon the decree signed by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev on February 2, 1997, February 2 was declared Azerbaijan Youth Day.
