New disability criteria to be introduced in Azerbaijan from next month

"From July 1 this year, new disability criteria will be introduced in our country," Anar Bayramov, the chairman of the State Agency for Medical and Social Expertise and Rehabilitation said.

Report quotes him as saying that under the new criteria, disability will no longer be limited to three degrees, but will be assessed more comprehensively based on determining the percentage of loss of body functions: “In this case, the degree of restriction of the 7 main categories of human life activity on self-care, free movement, choice of direction, communication, speech, behavior control, learning, and labor activity will be considered.”
