In January-August 2023, 2,288 twins, 99 triplets and 4 quadruplets were born in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the Committee, 75,623 newborns across the country were registered by the district (city) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice in the reporting period, and compared to the same period in 2022, this indicator fell from 12.3 to 11.2 per 1,000 people.
Boys accounted for 53.3% and girls for 46.7% of the newborns.
