Netflix will pause the filming of the sixth series of The Crown due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Report informs referring to Deadline.

Following the death Thursday of Queen Elizabeth II, Peter Morgan, writer of Netflix’s Emmy-winning drama The Crown, said that the series is “a love letter to her.”

Morgan, who also penned the 2006 film The Queen, starring Helen Mirren, also revealed today in an email message that he expects production on Season 6 of The Crown “will stop filming out of respect” for a period of time.

He wrote that “The Crown is a love letter to her and I’ve nothing to add for now, just silence and respect. I expect we will stop filming out of respect too.”

“The Crown” tells about the reign of Elizabeth II and covers the events from the early 1950s. The first season was released in November 2016, the premiere of the fifth season should take place in the fall of 2022. The fourth season was released in 2021 and focused on the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The fifth and sixth seasons will be dedicated to the events of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
