The conference taking place in Baku serves the interests and well-being of the Organization of the Turkic States member countries for the further development of the cultural and historical brotherhood among the Turkic-speaking peoples, said Shavkat Khamdamov, head of the international department of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Report informs.
He was speaking at a conference on the topic “The richness of the Turkic-Islamic heritage and its value in relation to the pressing problems of our time.”
“Friendship between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has a long history. The history of cultural, educational and religious ties between our peoples goes back to the distant past. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have been linked by friendship and cooperation since time immemorial. I believe that our relations based on mutual trust and support will continue to strengthen,” said Khamdamov.
He noted that the works of Azerbaijani thinkers were highly appreciated by the intelligentsia of Uzbekistan. The fact that the Tashkent State Pedagogical University in Uzbekistan bears the name of Nizami Ganjavi is a clear proof of this, he added.
Khamdamov noted that holding such a conference in Baku at a time when the Turkic peoples are more united in a very difficult time clearly shows its practical significance.
“Since its official membership in the Turkic Council, Uzbekistan has been actively participating in the activities of the organization and making its due contribution to its development. The initiatives of our country, promoted within the framework of the structure, are aimed at ensuring mutual interests, serve to realize collective aspirations and jointly solve common problems.
The proposals and initiatives of our country are based on the goals of developing direct cooperation among the Turkic-speaking peoples and countries in various fields based on the principles of mutual trust.
Among the tasks, a special place is held by such tasks as strengthening trust between fraternal peoples, developing mutual cooperation in the religious and educational spheres, maintaining peace and stability,” he added.
He noted that the conference taking place on October 21 in Baku serves the interests and well-being of the participating states for the further development of the cultural and historical brotherhood among the Turkic-speaking peoples, based on centuries-old deep roots.
“We are a joint Turkic family - a gathering of close people based on a common identity. The growing interest in establishing cooperation with our organization once again shows that we are supporters of peaceful coexistence and prosperity.
Our goal is to use the huge potential of good neighborliness, solidarity and cooperation in the spirit of equality, mutual trust, interest, consultations and the desire for development in cooperation,” Khamdamov concluded.
