Zhoghovurd: Chief of General Staff of Armenian Armed Forces to be arrested

Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Artak Davtyan will be arrested in the coming days, the November 20 issue of the Zhoghovurd daily said.

Report informs, citing News.am, that the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Armenia Suren Papikyan was brought to shake up all the staff of the Ministry of Defense and take the initiative:

"They are looking for qualified staff to start cleaning. A political decision has been made to dismiss Artak Davtyan, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces. But the new minister is not in a hurry yet because there is no suitable staff to replace him. The chief can be fired for two reasons: the combat capability and organization of the armed forces are not at the required level. The Chief of General Staff is responsible for this. It is not ruled out that Artak Davtyan will be arrested in the coming days. This is also due to the political decision to replace him."
