Zelensky warns about new wave of war

People must return to their hometowns, Russian troops must leave Ukraine, and Ukrainian territory must be liberated from them, President Volodymyr Zelensky told CBS TV channel, Report informs, citing UNIAN.

"Fighting for something without my people is meaningless. I understand that the enemy will not leave Crimea. I know that we will fight for a long time. I know that we will fight and bargain for certain territories in the east of our country, in the Donbas. I understand all this. But it is too early to talk about victory in Kyiv. Kyiv is still empty. The victory will come after our people return and the tanks leave. But in general, Ukraine is ahead," Zelensky said.

The President also noted that it is too early to talk about the defeat of the opposition side in the battles for Kyiv: "Because this is not the last victory. I can confidently say this only after winning the war and completely liberating our territories. Bucha is a large part of Kyiv. People were killed in Bucha, Hostomel, and Irpin. Did we win this battle? I'm not sure."

The head of state warned of a new wave of war in the east and south of the country: "It will be the most difficult battle. We do not know how much equipment will take part in those battles. However, this figure will be many times higher than today. Equipment is being assembled in the east and south of the country. We understand what Russia wants to do, and we know that everything depends on how the United States will help us and how quickly it will provide weapons."
