The World Bank expects Kazakhstan to further strengthen its position as a leader in the region, the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia, Tatiana Proskuryakova, told a meeting with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Report informs.

According to him, the World Bank intensified the preparation of new projects in the country, and the negotiations held in August 2023 helped this.

"This also applies to the program of the Cabinet of Ministers for connecting remote settlements to the Internet. I think it will be a great example for all the countries in Central Asia. I believe that the role of Kazakhstan as a regional leader will strengthen."

Smailov, in turn, noted that during the more than 30 years of cooperation with the World Bank, 48 joint projects with a total value of more than $8 billion have been successfully implemented in the country, and six active projects are also in operation.

According to him, the government of Kazakhstan is committed to deepening cooperation with the World Bank.
