US offers Turkiye to abandon ground operation

The US has offered Turkiye to abandon the ground operation and withdraw Kurdish units from northern Syria to a distance of 30 km from the Turkish border, Report informs referring to Hurriyet newspaper.

Knowing the determination of President Erdogan, the Americans took measures to resolve this issue without an operation. Thus, negotiations were held between the heads of the US and Turkish General Staffs Mark Milley and Yasar Guler. Also, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar received US Ambassador to Ankara Jeffry Flake, according to the newspaper.

A compromise option was discussed at the talks - the withdrawal of Kurdish forces at a distance of up to 30 km from the border with Turkiye.

The reason for such concessions to Turkiye is the presence of American military personnel in the ranks of the Kurdish forces.
