UN General Assembly to consider issue of compensations for Russia's damage to Ukraine

The UN General Assembly will meet on November 14 for a special session, where it will consider a draft resolution on the creation of a mechanism for issuing compensation to Ukraine to reimburse for the damage caused by Russia during its full-scale war, said Paulina Kubiak, the Spokesperson for the President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, Report informs via foreign media.

According to Kubiak, the Ukrainian delegation to the UN sent a request to hold a special session to discuss the resolution "Promotion of legal protection and reparations to Ukraine."

The document contains the recognition by the UN member states of the need to create a reimbursement mechanism to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine by Russia, and recommendations to states on creating a register of such losses.

According to the resolution, the Russian Federation is called upon to stop hostilities in Ukraine and withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territories.
