UN General Assembly adopts resolution initiated by Uzbekistan

The UN General Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution initiated by Uzbekistan on promoting sustainable forest management, including afforestation and reforestation, on degraded lands, including in drylands, to effectively address environmental issues, Report informs referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The document is based on the concept of the nationwide program "Yashil Makon" ("Green Environment" - ed.), implemented in Uzbekistan at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at preserving and restoring biodiversity through greening of urban and rural areas.

"The document reflects the key proposals of the head of our state on effectively countering climate change and combating land degradation, voiced during the 78th session of the General Assembly and the 28th UN Climate Conference," the report says.

More than 100 member countries, including Azerbaijan, co-sponsored the resolution.
