Ukraine celebrates August 24 as Independence Day.
Report reminds that on December 8, 1991, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine decided to dissolve the USSR.
Thus, Ukraine became an independent state. Since then, August 24 has been celebrated as the Independence Day of Ukraine.
This year marks the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for six months. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that provocations may take place today, August 24.
