Two cases of West Nile fever (WNF), caused by a virus transmitted by mosquitoes, have been registered in Armenia in 2025, Report informs via the local press.
The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention under Armenia's Ministry of Health confirmed the cases. The first infection of the year was detected on June 3.
Despite these cases, the epidemiological situation in the country remains stable, authorities stated.
However, the European health system warns of a growing risk of mosquito-borne diseases due to rising global temperatures and heatwaves. It is also noted that around 80% of those infected with WNF show no symptoms.
