Türkiye is intensifying efforts to resolve the Gaza Strip; for this purpose, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is going to Qatar on April 16 for negotiations with the authorities of the emirate and the leadership of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, according to the Hürriyet newspaper, Report informs referring to TASS.
The Turkish side also intends to revive the activities of the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States on Gaza.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke about the need to intensify the efforts of the Islamic world to contain Israel in a telephone conversation with Qatari Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on April 15.
The publication notes that Western countries, “although they stand behind Israel, are afraid of a retaliatory strike [against Iran], so they express their concern to Türkiye.”
Al Jazeera reported earlier, citing an unnamed US official, that Israel could strike targets deep inside Iran as a military response. According to the channel’s source, Israel’s potential response to the Iranian attack may not be aimed at escalating tensions, but rather at demonstrating its military capabilities.
