The Turkish government will take serious sanctions against those who prevent the reduction of prices for basic foodstuffs, Report informs, citing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Earlier, the Turkish government reduced VAT on basic foodstuffs from 8% to 1% in order to fight inflation.

"The punishment will be severe. Control will continue," he stressed.
