Turkish Defense Minister: 'Elections will be held in democratic atmosphere'

National Defense Minister of Turkey Hulusi Akar voted in the Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections in Kayseri today, Report informs.

In a statement to journalists, the minister expressed confidence that the elections would be held in a democratic atmosphere.

"We shared our ideas, voiced our plans and projects, met with our citizens. They listened to us, and today they will make a decision," Hulusi Akar said.

The voting in the presidential and parliamentary elections in Türkiye began at 08:00 local time (GMT+3) and will continue until 17:00.

There are more than 191,000 polling stations in the country, and 64,113,941 voters have been registered. Of these, about 5 million people will exercise their right to vote for the first time.
