Tokayev: I was advised to leave Kazakhstan

"I was advised to leave Kazakhstan during the January incidents," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in his interview to Rossiya 24 TV channel, Report informs.

He noted that he was in the capital Nur-Sultan during the protests against the rise of prices for natural gas and daily necessities in several cities of Kazakhstan in January this year. "I was in the presidential residence during the January incidents. Besides, I stayed the night here. Some "comrades" also advised me to leave Kazakhstan by helicopter or plane. Of course, I have never been planning it and I thought I should stay here until the end," President Tokayev stressed.
