Ukraine won’t receive an invitation to the NATO summit in Vilnius, which will be held next month, in July, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Brussels, Report informs referring to RBC-Ukraine.

“We discussed the action plan for Ukraine. This is a question that was raised at the ministerial meeting in Oslo,” he said.

According to Stoltenberg, there are three important points regarding Ukraine - the country’s approach to NATO in a practical dimension. This means continued support and assistance to the country in the transition from Soviet standards to NATO doctrine and equipment; further is the political path, the finalization of the agreement on the establishment of the Ukraine-NATO Council. The third point is Ukraine’s membership in the EU.

“For the time being, we will not discuss inviting Ukraine to join NATO during the Vilnius summit. But we believe that Ukraine should become its member. We will bring this process closer, we are sure that we can find a consensus in Vilnius on how to bring the country closer to the North Atlantic alliance,” Stoltenberg added.
