The State Duma of Russia has adopted a bill that toughens charges for war crimes - voluntary surrender, looting and coercion to violate military service duties - with long prison terms, Report informs via Russian media.
The bill has been published online.
In particular, military personnel will be punished for voluntary surrender with imprisonment from three to ten years, and looting and coercion to violate the duties of military service - with imprisonment of up to 15 years.
In addition, amendments were adopted, according to which it is easier for foreign military personnel to obtain Russian citizenship and it becomes possible to conclude contracts with them for shorter periods.
