Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit kicks off in Astana

The Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) began in Astana at the Palace of Independence under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan, Report informs via Kazakh media.

The representative forum of the organization will be held for the first time in the format of a meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States and the SCO Plus meeting.

During the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State, the Astana Declaration, 20 decisions and 3 statements of heads of state will be adopted, including the initiatives “On World Unity for a Just Peace, Harmony and Development”, and “On Improving the SCO”.

The event is attended by the heads of state and government of Kazakhstan, India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, UAE, Türkiye and Turkmenistan, as well as the SCO Secretary General and the Executive Director of the Regional Anti-Terrorism SCO structures.
