Second stage of new city near Ashgabat planned to be built by 2026

The second stage of the new administrative center of the Ahal region - the city of Arkadag - is planned to be built in 2023-2026, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed the relevant decree, Report informs referring to TASS.

The document instructs the administration of the Ahal region and the Ministry of Construction and Architecture to draw up a master plan for the city of Arkadag within a month, and the State Construction Committee to hold a tender for the construction of relevant facilities.

As part of the first phase of the construction of the city, which is scheduled for delivery this year, 336 buildings and structures are being built, including luxury residential buildings, a health and rehabilitation center for children with the latest equipment, hospitals, secondary schools, kindergartens, administrative buildings, infrastructure systems and other engineering facilities.

At the second stage, there are plans to build 415.4 km of water supply, irrigation, sewerage networks, systems for the flow of mudflows and lowering the water level, 62.9 km of a gas pipeline, 344.2 km of power lines, 210 km of communication systems, 74.9 km of roads.

The construction of the city, which is located 30 km from Ashgabat, began in 2019 at the initiative of the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
