Sakha records 52 degrees of frost

On December 11, 52 and 51 degrees of frost were recorded in Verkhoyansk and Oymyakon regions of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) of Russia, Report says, referring to RIA Novosti.
According to the Hydrometeorological and Environmental Monitoring Department of the Republic, on December 11, it was -45° C in 20 settlements of Yakutia. In many regions and cities of the country, students of 1-5th grades have been on holiday.
Verkhoyansk and Oymyakon are the coldest places in the northern hemisphere. Some time ago, regions registered -67° C.
The Sakha Republic is the largest subject of Russia in terms of territory. Its area is 3,083,523 square kilometers, and its population is 971,996 people.
