Russian political scientist: Russia is not pleased with future involvement of EU on Azerbaijan-Armenia border

Official Moscow is not pleased with the placement of the mission of European observers on the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as Yerevan leaning towards the West and its efforts to break the relations with Russia, Daria Grevtsova, a political scientist and deputy director of Russia's Institute for Political Studies, said in an exclusive interview with the Russian bureau of Report.

According to her, the Armenian side shows its intention and the countries it prefers by inviting American and European politicians to participate in solving the current situation.

The expert added that the agreement on the border observation mission could be a reason to interfere in the internal affairs of the countries of the region: "The West will interfere in the internal affairs of these countries under the pretext of resolving this conflict. There are many such examples. The main task of the West in the current situation is not to reconcile Azerbaijan and Armenia but to push Yerevan to pursue an anti-Russian policy. Unfortunately, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's initiative to involve the European mission will not lead to a solution to the conflict."

Grevtsova emphasized that Azerbaijan conducts a balanced and independent foreign policy.

According to her, the Armenian authorities do not care about the interests of the Armenian people: "The Armenian authorities work not for the interests of the people, but for the interests of the pro-Western elite, who are trying to spoil the relations between Moscow and Yerevan."
